IF YOU’RE NEW TO THE BUSINESS...
Health and Safety
If you're shooting hardcore, please use the same the health precautions that are accepted throughout the industry. Make sure all test certifications are valid and recent.
Every industry has its scumbags. Use common sense when working with people you don't know. Try to find out if they have a good work record. Have somebody you trust be nearby to watch your back.
Legal Stuff
Bone up on the laws that affect the industry. There are certain activities you cannot show in the U.S. (and which I don't want to see, anyway!)
Producers have considerable record-keeping responsibilities.
Age restrictions for production and distribution are no joke!
Learn what you can, get help from a lawyer who knows the industry.I do not work with anyone who doesn't have their legal shit together!
Get Real
A lot of people still have dreams about getting rich in porn. It can happen. Getting screwed and losing everything can also happen.
What's your plan? Do you have a distributor or will you self-distribute? What's your budget?
Do you have a realistic strategy for making your money back and (one hopes) making a profit? I've worked for people who ended up losing money. It ain't pretty.
Why should I care if you fail as long as my checks clear? Because it makes me fucking SAD, that's why! So please do your homework!
